Much more than a body
One of the fundamental teachings of Reiki healing is that we are much more than our physical body. Beyond our physical body, we also have an energy body which is the integration of our aura (energy bodies), chakras (energy centres) and meridians (energy paths).

Our body needs energy to survive, and this is introduced by eating food, drinking water, breathing air, etc. So as with our physical body, our energy bodies also need energy, which is taken from the environment via energetic/magnetic processes.
Our energy bodies (which make up the aura) are responsible for the “channelling” of energy; our energy centres (chakras) process it, while our energy pathways (meridians) distribute it.
Our body is made of energy that vibrates at different speeds. Our physical body, our thoughts, our emotions and our spiritual centre vibrate at a particular frequency or speed. These vibrations or pulsations create a field around them that is often referred to as our aura or energy field. The aura is an information centre and a highly perceptive system that transmits and receives messages from the external and internal environment.
Each energy layer looks different and has its own function. However, the different energy layers continuously interpenetrate one another as in the physical body. These energy fields can sometimes be perceived through touch, especially by practitioners of Reiki or other energy disciplines. This energy is what we perceive when we scan the aura with our hands.
The ETHERIC field is the first energy layer of our energy body and is up to 5 cm from the body. It is a perfect energy photocopy (complete with organs, bones, muscles) of the physical body.
The EMOTIONAL field is one in which we feel feelings. It extends from 2.5 to 7.5 cm beyond the physical body.
The MENTAL field is associated with mental thoughts and processes. It can be detected from 7.5 to 18 cm from the physical body.
The SPIRITUAL field is composed of four or more energy layers, which help us to relate to our higher self and spiritual dimensions. It is activated when we meditate, pray or channel. It extends from 18 cm up to 2 m beyond our physical body. These energy fields are also called our four LEVELS OF EXISTENCE, or even our spiritual physical, mental and emotional self.
How does Reiki distance healing work
In his book “Holographic Universe”, Michael Talbot describes how in 1982 at the University of Paris, a research team led by Physicist Alain Aspect realized what could be called one of the most important experiments of the 20th century.
In this experiment, Aspect and his team discovered that, under certain circumstances, subatomic particles such as electrons have the ability to communicate instantly between them regardless of the distance that separates them. It doesn’t matter if the distance between them is 10m or thousands of km.
In 1997, another scientist whose name is Nicolas Gisan, again performed the same experiments conducted by Alain Aspect, concluding that some particles appeared to communicate at an incredible speed of 20,000 times higher than the speed of light!
Talbot’s Holographic Universe book provides important insights and explanations on how remote Reiki energy can be sent. Talbot describes the experiments of David Bohm, a well-known physicist: “This insight suggested to Bohm another way of understanding Aspect’s discovery. Bohm believes that the reason why subatomic particles are able to keep in touch with each other despite the distance is not because they send some sort of mysterious signal back and forth, but because their separation is an illusion. He argues that at a deeper level of reality, these particles are not individual entities, but extensions of the same something fundamental. “
“If the apparent separation of subatomic particles is illusory, this means that at a deeper level of reality all things in the universe are infinitely interconnected.”
Some scientists are nowadays recognizing what mystics of various traditions have been repeating for millennia, that is, that we are all interconnected and not separated.
Remote energy care can be transferred over long distances because we are all interconnected.
